How do I exchange a Safavieh product?

At Safavieh we stand behind all of products, but from time to time some situations are beyond our control and yours. Here are guidelines for returning our product:


  • For all online purchases made through an online vendor / retailer please contact the specific vendor / retailer to have them issue a return.


When ordering a Safavieh product online through an online retailer all refunds, exchanges, returns, discounts and cancellations need to be made directly with the retailer. We do not provide extended warranties for our products. Returns and exchanges are made based on the policy of the retailer where our product was purchased We recommend that you contact the retailer of purchase directly for more information. If you’re unsure about where you have purchased from, please contact our team here.


Some items may be final. Check with the retailer on the specific terms of such purchases.

How do I exchange a damaged Safavieh product?

To exchange a Safavieh product that was damaged during shipping please contact the retailer where you purchased the item to arrange for an exchange. To ensure a quick resolution please provide your retailer with proof of purchase (invoice), purchase order, tracking number and photos if applicable. Please contact your retailer directly to learn more about their specific return policy.

How do I exchange a Safavieh product after the retailer’s return policy has expired?

We do not have an extended warranty program, however we do understand that on occasion certain special circumstances call for further consideration. To contact Safavieh regarding exchanging an item after the retailer’s return policy has expired, please use the form located in the Contact Us section of our website. Provide us with complete details on your purchase and the specific reason you are requesting an exchange. All inquiries will be handled on a case by case basis. We cannot honor all exchange requests after the retailer’s exchange policy has expired.

Do Safavieh products come with an extended warranty?

We do not offer an extended warranty on Safavieh products. If you have a special circumstance pertaining to a Safavieh product that you would like to contact us about please use the  form in the Contact Us section of our website and provide us with complete details on your purchase and the specific reason for your inquiry.

Where is my order?

The fastest, most efficient way to track down your Safavieh product is to contact the retailer directly, providing them with your purchase order number and/or tracking number.

I received the wrong item, color, size; what do I do?

If there was an error made with the Safavieh product delivered to you please contact the retailer immediately. Safavieh retail partners typically have a 30 day exchange policy. Therefore, you need to thoroughly inspect your product as soon as it is delivered to ensure that any issues can be quickly resolved. Contact your retailer directly to learn more about the terms and conditions of their exchange policy.

Parts to my Safavieh product are missing; what do I do?

Contact the retailer where you purchased your Safavieh product immediately if any parts are missing or damaged. Provide the retailer with your purchase order number and/or tracking number to help them resolve your issue quickly and efficiently.

How do I get replacement parts for my Safavieh product?

To get replacement parts for your Safavieh product please contact the retailer where you purchased this item. Provide them with as much information as possible regarding the SKU number, size, color and any other pertinent information about this product. Please note that most replacement part requests need to be made directly and within the specified time period and conditions of their exchange policy.

Can I buy replacement parts from Safavieh?

We do not sell replacement parts for our products. Please contact the retailer where you purchased your Safavieh product if you need replacement parts.

How can I get more information about a Safavieh product?

Provide us with as much detail about the product as possible (name of product, SKU#, color), along with your specific question and a Safavieh customer service representative will get back to you shortly with the information you need.

What to expect when my Safavieh rug is delivered?

We hope that you are completely satisfied with your new Safavieh rug. We strongly suggest that you unpack your rug immediately upon receipt and allow it to “breathe.” After inspecting your new rug to make sure that it is the size, shape and color that you ordered, please take note of the following inherent features common in most area rugs:

  • Creases or waves in the pile:  When you unroll your new rug you may notice some waves or creases in the pile and near the edges. This is normal, temporary, and easily remedied. These waves will flatten within 2 -3 weeks as the rug relaxes in your home. You may also want to “back roll” your rug to speed the relaxation and flattening of the pile.
  • Shedding:  Wool rugs will shed for a short period of time after they are placed in your home. This is a natural aspect of using pure wool fibers in the construction of your rug. Shedding will diminish over time, especially if you follow these simple tips.
    • Use a high-quality rug pad to keep your rug in place and reduce the friction that can cause excessive shedding.
    • Vacuum a new wool rug 1-2 times per week for the first month (no beater bars).
    • Always vacuum in the direction of the pile, not against it.
    • Clip loose ends with a scissor, never pull them.
  • New Rug Smell:  Just as your car once had a “new car smell,” a new area rug will have a distinctive smell. This is normal and temporary. The new rug smell that you might be noticing can be from the natural fibers used to make the rug as well as from shipping and packaging. Exposure to fresh air and regular vacuuming will cause this smell to fade away completely shortly after the rug has had time to air out in your home.

How can I get a rug sample?

We do not provide samples of our rugs. To learn more about our rugs view the detailed images, descriptions and videos you’ll find in our Rug Catalog.

How do I arrange my rug in my home (living room, dining room, bedroom, indoor-outdoor areas?

Should I use a rug pad under my rug?

Using a rug pad is a matter of personal/décor preference. Here are a few of the benefits of using a rug pad under an area rug:

  • Keeps the rug firmly in place; no slippage
  • Provides an extra layer of cushion, which some may prefer especially under very close pile rugs.
  • Reduces friction on the surface of the rug which can reduce shedding, especially on wool pile rugs.

What is the dry, sandy substance I notice occasionally under my rug?

Many power-loomed area rugs are made using latex on the underside of the rug. Over time the latex can start to “shed,” which will look like dust or fine particles of sand. Simply sweep away this dust should you notice it under your rug. Your rug is still fine and will continue to beautify your home for many years to come.

Are Safavieh Rugs stain-resistant?

We do not use any stain guard chemicals on our rugs. If you should spill anything on your rug the stain needs to be addressed quickly and properly to avoid having it set into the pile. See our Rug Care and Cleaning Tips for more information on removing stains from area rugs.

Are Safavieh rugs safe for children & pets?

All Safavieh rugs made using synthetic yarns such as polyester and polypropylene, are tested and certified safe for the chemical agents specified by Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX testing protocols. The Certified Safe OEKO-TEX label is located on the product pages for all rugs that have been tested.

What causes slight variations in rug sizes, colors or designs?

Safavieh machine-made rugs (power loomed), handmade, and hand-tufted rugs may vary slightly in color, design, and size:

  • Shrinkage due to, but not limited to, environmental conditions.
  • Variations in rug designs or patterns due to the size of the rug.
  • Slight variations in colors seen online vs. actual color of a rug due to differences in devices, monitor sizes & screen resolution.

Where are the legs for my Safavieh chair?

The legs to your dining chair, as well as the hardware that you’ll need to attach these legs, are located in the zippered compartment under the seat of your chair.

How do I get instructions on how to assemble my Safavieh product?

Safavieh products requiring assembly include instructions in the packaging. If your product did not include assembly instructions or if you have further questions Contact Us and a customer service representative will reply shortly.

Does Safavieh have designer accounts?

Yes, at Safavieh we welcome interior designers and home furnishing dealers to open trade accounts with us.  Your Safavieh Dealers & Designer account enables you to shop directly on our website,, create vision boards to help organize your projects, and correspond with a Safavieh online sales representative for any service related questions.


To apply for a Safavieh Dealer / Designer account use the Safavieh Online Dealer Application and submit along with all requested state sales tax documents. We will review your application and respond within 1-3 business days. (This application is not for wholesale trade accounts. To inquire about a wholesale trade account please use the Contact Us form and under subject line click – “Wholesale Trade Accounts.”)

Where do I go to login to my dealer account?

To login to your designer account click “Login” on the top right side of the the header or go directly to the Safavieh  Dealer Login Page and enter your Customer ID (Username) and password.

How do I get sample products – (for designers)?

To request rug and fabric samples contact us at, and include “Sample Request” in the subject line of your email and a Safavieh online sales representative will reply to you within 1-3 business days or sooner.

How do I reset my password if I lose or misplace it?

If you lose or misplace the password for your Dealer / Designer account, go to the Safavieh Dealer Login Page and click on the “Forgot Password” link.  A new, auto-generated password will be sent to the email that was used to set up your account.

How do I change my password or email address on my account?

You can change your account information, including your password, email, address etc., after logging in to your account by using the My Account link in the drop down menu.

It's been a while since I tried to access my Safavieh Dealer account and now I can't login?

If your Safavieh Dealer / Designer account was established a while back, you may not be able to access your account on with your old login credentials. In this instance we will need to reset your password.


To re-establish your Safavieh Dealer / Designer account simply navigate to the Safavieh Dealer Login page and use this link “Click here to contact us” to send us updated account information. Including your old Customer ID on this form will expedite the process of resetting your password considerably.


After getting your updated information, we’ll reply within 1-3 business days or sooner with a new password for you to access your account on


In some instances we my not be able to locate your information in our database, in which case we will ask that you submit a new Dealer / Designer application.

Why don't I see the price or inventory levels on some items on

The vast majority of Safavieh products are available for purchase online for our Dealers / Designers. However certain categories of rugs and furniture are not available for direct sale online, BUT, can be purchased with the assistance of a Safavieh online sales representative.


On these products you will see a message link saying, “Click here to Contact Us for sales support on this product.” A Safavieh online sales representative will get back to you shortly after you submit this form. The more information you provide us with on this form, the more effectively we can assist you with this product.

Can I place a back order using my account?

Your online Dealer / Designer account is not set up to create back order requests on items that are out of stock now, but will be restocked later.


On occasion, a product that you purchased and paid for online using your Dealer / Designer might go on back order due to circumstances beyond our control. In this instance, a Safavieh online sale representative make arrangements with you for a refund, replacement, or to hold this back order for you until the product arrives, at which time we will ship it to you.

At Safavieh we stand behind all of products, but from time to time a situation is beyond our control and yours. In these instances our easy return process will remedy the issue and ensure you a worry-free online shopping experience.


30 Day Return Policy


  • You can return Safavieh products 30 days after purchase in exchange for a replacement for your original purchase or a refund.
  • If the item being returned was processed correctly and was not damaged in any way, a shipping / handling fee may be charged when returning.
  • In the case of a damaged product, we may ask for a photo of the damaged piece(s) before we can provide you with a replacement or replacement part.
  • To return an item, a customer service representative will provide you with a shipping label and information you’ll need to return the item to us.
  • Refunds typically take 14 business days once the item is returned.

Can I Use a PO Box for shipping?

We do not accept a PO Box as a valid shipping address when placing an order on The Safavieh Dealer / Designer sales platform requires a physical address for a residence or business within the lower 48 U.S. states.
